Recently, there was an interesting study in Brazil. We traveled to Brazil in the fall of 2014 to meet Dr. Crippa and learn more about the important research being conducted on CBD at the University of Sao Palo. One study that we found particularly interesting is Research on CBD and Generalized Social Anxiety, by Dr. Crippa, University of Sao Palo.
This was a Simulated Public Speaking Study that tested 24 subjects with Generalized Social Anxiety Disorder. Half of the people were given a placebo and half a dose of CBD. All of the volunteers were tested at six different intervals. The testing used physiological markers (blood pressure, heart rate and skin conductance), the Visual Analogue Mood Scale, and the Negative Self-Statement Scale.
Results showed :
Participants who received CBD had a reduction in anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort. Participants who received the placebo had high levels of anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort.
Even more surprising was the fact that the group that received CBD scored the same as the control group. This means that people with Social Anxiety Disorder who received CBD scored the same on a public speaking study as people in the control group who do not suffer from anxiety.
This is great news for people with anxiety! This is consistent with results that we see with people using CBD.
