The cannabis plant contains many different cannabinoids. The most famous cannabinoid for has been tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), but as lately more research has explored the rest of the cannabinoids and their potential health benefits, especially cannabidiol (CBD). In the last couple of years interest in CBD has grown exponentially, as it’s been featured on numerous television episodes showing the promise CBD is showing in treating people who suffer from severe epilepsy. One question we get frequently is, what is the difference between THC and CBD?
THC has psychoactive properties that affect your brain in a way that gives you a ‘high’ while CBD does not. As much as this is an attraction to many to Cannabis, it also deters a lot of people who don't want to get high for one reason or another. Once people understand that there are dozens of cannabinoids (and terpenes), and that they all don’t get you stoned (specifically CBD), they open up to medical cannabis.

A brief explanation of CBD is below, via Project CBD:
Cannabidiol — CBD— is a cannabis compound that has significant medical benefits, but does not make people feel “stoned” and can actually counteract the psychoactivity of THC. The fact that CBD-rich cannabis doesn’t get one high makes it an appealing treatment option for patients seeking anti-inflammatory, anti-pain, anti-anxiety, anti-psychotic, and/or anti-spasm effects without troubling lethargy or dysphoria.
