Up to 80% of women may suffer from physical or emotional symptoms caused by premenstrual syndrome (PMS). These symptoms are very likely caused by sensitivity to the hormone prolactin. Gamma-linolencic acid (GLA) found in hemp seeds, produces prostaglandin E1, which reduces the effects of prolactin.

Studies have been done that show women with PMS, taking one gram of essential fatty acids (including 210 mg of GLA) per day resulted in a significant decrease in symptoms. Other studies have shown that primrose oil, which is rich in GLA, may be highly effective in reducing symptoms for women who have failed other PMS therapies. It decreased breast pain and tenderness, depression, irritability and fluid retention associated with PMS.

Because hemp seeds are high in GLA, several studies have indicated that hemp seeds may also help reduce the symptoms of menopause. Exactly how this works is unknown, but it has been suggested that the GLA in hemp seeds may help to regulate the hormone imbalances and inflammation associated with menopause.

Irie CBD has compiled a formula called Feminine Support that is everything a woman needs!

Fennel - Fennel is known as an Emmenagogue, meaning that it eases and regulates menstruation by properly regulating hormonal action in the body. Furthermore, fennel is used in a number of products to reduce the effects of PMS and it is also used traditionally as a soothing pain reliever and relaxing agent for menopausal women.

Avena Sativa (Oat Straw) – Oat Straw, derived from the Avena sativa plant, has been passed down from generation to generation as a natural herbal supporter for women’s health.  Tradition holds oat straw as a powerful aphrodisiac, a natural diuretic that assists with menstrual cramps and bloating, an excellent source of B vitamins, and to be rich in Calcium for bone health.

And Evening Primrose - Women use evening primrose oil for premenstrual syndrome (PMS), breast pain, endometriosis, and symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes. In addition evening primrose oil is used as a dietary source of essential fatty acids.
