Our cacao is derived from Ecuadorian Arriba Criollo Cacao Beans, grown in high-elevation volcanic soil, and brought down from the mountainous regions via donkey back. The cacao is from trees that are a minimum of 30 years old, while some have been growing for more than 80 years. These trees are nourished from rain water and deep mountain spring water, never irrigated from rivers or streams. The cacao pods are hand-picked when they are fully mature and ripe and always sun-dried. Our beans are free of mycotoxins, mold, yeast, or fungus, and are processed in a state-of-the-art facility. The purity of the cacao beans we use result in a deep, intense, raw chocolate flavor and color.
