WHAT EXACTLY IS FULL SPECTRUM HEMP OIL?

Full Spectrum Hemp Oil is an extracted oil made from industrial grade hemp that contains all the naturally occurring cannabinoids (including CBD), terpenes, flavonoids, phytonutrients and fatty acids found in whole plant hemp material.

DIDN’T YOUR PRODUCTS USED TO BE CALLED CBD OIL? HAVE THE INGREDIENTS CHANGED?

No. All our products remain the same CBD rich oil derived from industrial hemp. To better clarify the source of cannabidiol (CBD) the natural food industry is moving towards calling these products hemp extract or full spectrum hemp oil instead of CBD Oil.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEMP DERIVED CBD OIL AND FULL SPECTRUM HEMP OIL?

Often these are different terms for the exact same thing. CBD Oil can mean several different products, some of them isolates (containing just the CBD compound separated from all other cannabinoids) and some of them Full Spectrum made from the whole plant material and containing all the naturally occurring compounds in hemp. Full Spectrum CBD Oil made from whole plant hemp matter is the same thing as our Full Spectrum Hemp Oil.

WHAT IS CBD?

Cannabidiol—CBD—is one of the many chemical compounds found in hemp and high-CBD strains of cannabis. It is non-psychoactive (it will not get you ‘high’) and is a wonderful nutritional supplement and super food.

WHY IS CBD GOOD FOR YOU?

CBD has been shown to support the proper functioning of the Endocannabinoid System. The role of the Endocannabinoid System is to protect and modulate the nervous system and the immune system by regulating cellular communication. WHAT IS ‘FULL SPECTRUM’ CBD, AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Full Spectrum refers to all the cannabinoids naturally found in hemp. There have been over eighty different cannabinoids isolated and identified, and these different cannabinoids all work together to provide the health benefits hemp is celebrated for. The main point to take away is that CBD has shown to be much more effective in the presence of all the other naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes found in the cannabis plant (known in the scientific community as the Entourage Effect. Some mistakenly think that CBD isolate is what we are referring to when describing our products, but all Irie products are ‘full spectrum, CBD rich hemp extract’, that contain the full entourage of cannabinoids and terpenes known to work in concert to provide the best health outcomes. IS FULL SPECTRUM HEMP OIL DIFFERENT FROM HEMP SEED OIL?

Yes. Hemp seed oil is made from the seeds of the hemp plant only, and has a variety of uses including as a cooking oil, salad dressing, natural body product or nutritional supplement. It is NOT made from whole plant matter and does not contain CBD.

IS CBD CANNABIS OIL?

Cannabis oil is often thought to be cannabis extract from Marijuana plants that are high in THC. Ours is extracted from hemp, meaning it is high in CBD and low in THC, and will not produce a high when consumed. Hemp is the heirloom form of cannabis; it hasn’t been selectively bred to be high in THC.

CBD oil is different from hemp seed oil. While both are wonderful products, and hemp oil is a great source of Omega 3 fatty acids, CBD oil contains concentrated levels of the CBD cannabinoid not found in hemp oil. The therapeutic effects of CBD are profound and wide ranging; many people experience beneficial effects that provide relief from neurological conditions, immune imbalances, inflammation, pain management and support while fighting cancer.

DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN THC?

Our products have trace amounts of THC. This low level of THC is not intoxicating, and meets requirements to be classified as hemp, but still provides the full spectrum benefits that come when all cannabinoids and terpenes are included in an extract. Our full spectrum (whole plant) extracts contain many other wonderful cannabinoids (CBG, CBC, CBN) and terpenes in addition to the CBD.

DOES IT HAVE THE SAME EFFECT AS CANNABIS?

Hemp and Marijuana are both strains of the Cannabis Sativa plant. Hemp (which is High CBD, low THC) does not have the same psychoactive (“high”) effect as Marijuana. Consuming our CBD Oil tinctures or honeysticks produces no psychoactive effect.

CBD can be very therapeutic and calming.

CAN I GET HIGH FROM IT?

You won’t experience a high with our products. Cannabidiol, and the other cannabinoids found in our Full Spectrum Hemp Oil have no psychoactive effects. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEMP AND MARIJUANA?

Hemp is the heirloom variety of cannabis. It is the unadulterated strain of the cannabis sativa plant. The cannabinoid and phytonutrient makeup in the hemp plant are closest to the ratios found in the naturally occurring industrial hemp strains, that are high in CBD and low in THC. What is commonly referred to as ‘Marijuana’ are strains of the Cannabis Sativa plant that have been bred to be high in THC and low in CBD. Both are varieties of the Cannabis Sativa plant. It is selective breeding and growing conditions that differentiate these two strains.

TELL ME ABOUT CO2 EXTRACTION AND WHY YOU USE THAT METHOD?

CO2 extraction is a high pressure method of disrupting the cell walls of the plant material and extracting the rich material contained within, including the wide array of cannabinoids. This method is the cleanest way to extract the cannabinoids from hemp. There are other methods of extraction, including Butane or Hexane based extraction, as well as the Rick Simpson Oil method. All these methods use solvents which have varying degrees of toxicity and can leave residuals in the final product. At IrieCBD we believe in making the cleanest product possible, and CO2 extraction insures no toxic residue is left in any of our concentrates of oils.

OILS AND CAPSULES

Oil is digested through the stomach, and is typically made with a base of hemp seed oil. You will ‘feel’ it faster, and it has a stronger taste.

Capsules are digested through the small intestine, and the base is coconut oil. Capsules are absorbed into the body well but take longer to ‘feel’, and are tasteless.

Our capsules are liposomal and enteric which increases the bioavailability of nutrients in our whole plant matter.

WHAT ARE LIPOSOMAL CAPSULES?

Irie’s capsules make use of liposomal delivery, in which a liposomal shell, made of the same material as a cell membrane, surrounds the supplement’s major molecules allowing for increased absorption into the body and decreasing side effects and uptake time.

Liposomal supplements improve bioavailability, protecting delicate nutrients from stomach acid by proceeding to the intestines where they dissolve in response to the more alkaline environment and safely release all active ingredients.

For those with sensitive stomachs, this avoids any possibility of the capsules leading to stomach upset, and maximize benefit while minimizing any possible side effects or digestive upset.

DO YOU HAVE TO REFRIGERATE THE OILS?

The shelf life of Irie’s oils unrefrigerated is about a year and a half (unopened). It will last longer if refrigerated (2 years). Just do your best to keep your product away from sunlight, extreme heat or other intense conditions.

DOSING

When using plants to support proper functioning of physiological systems, the ‘dosing’ often doesn’t need to be as exact as with medications. However, over time you will probably find the optimum amount that supports you the best. A normal, healthy person of average body weight, looking to CBD as a preventative health, i.e. a superfood supplement, would take 20 drops or nearly 1 dropper full daily (which would be about 8mg of CBD.) The amount of Hemp Extract Oil that people take on a daily basis can vary. You can take it with or without food - the optimal way to consume it is to hold it under the tongue for 30 seconds or longer before swallowing.

To determine the CBD content of a product from the certificate of analysis, take the

Total mg/mL, then multiply it by the overall weight in mL (32 mL)

For example, you would multiply 10.43mg/mL x 32mL to equal 333.76mgs

Some of our products test +/-, and this is common in the industry.

We ensure the closest accuracy possible of the content of all our products by testing the cannabinoid count of the raw CBD-hemp extract at the same lab where we test finished products. This creates a proper baseline for concentration accuracy.

WILL THIS SHOW UP ON A DRUG TEST?

There are different ways that companies test for drugs. Some drug tests are specific for THC and some are broader and test for all cannabinoids. It is best to check with your workplace prior to starting a product with cannabinoids.
